WHO IS BASEPLOT__?
baseplot__ is is a visual network and spatial agency setup by me, Nicholas Ng. I consider myself an invididual that is visually stimulated, love design … any form of design from graphic to fashion to architecture. I am also an avid volunteer in helping the greater community that I am involved in.
I received a degree in Master of Architecture from the Boston Architecture College in Boston, MA. During my years in Boston, I have worked at award winning firms, including Signer Harris Architects (currently part of Perkins + Wills, Boston), Koetter Kim & Associates and Choi + Shine Architects.
Prior to that, I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Graphic Design) from the Corcoran College of Art and Design. In 2003, I was part of an editorial team that was involved with the design of the AIGA Boston Chapter Annual Report and won the BoNE (Best of New England) Show Award and the HOW Magazine Annual Merit Award. The piece for AIGA Boston was also featured in Graphic Design USA. The Corcoran College also awarded me the 2003 PSA Creative Award for my thesis project.
As of 2025, I am still an active volunteer for EPIC Homes, a social enterprise that builds home for the orang asli (indigenous people) of Peninsular Malaysia. I’m also the co-founder of VERNADOC Malaysia, where the troop documents vernacular and heritage buildings around the world. The works are on display here.
When not designing buildings and doodling around, you can find me roaming your streets, photographing subjects that interest me and enjoying a cup of coffee at your local café.
baseplot__ believes that every project that we take on is built upon a strong foundation from the beginning. 2.0 ignores these believes. Or at least I hope it does.
THOUGHTS AND SPURS
POST 02

I think every cities has parts that are often overlooked by her citizens, yet life still thrives there, as best as they could, even when other parts of the city have been gentrified and developed.

Who do we live for? What does a city means to us who lives there, but never visits?
POST 01

For the past year or so, I’ve been taking photos in black and white. This unedited photo here was shot at Malaga, Spain. It’s not the best photo or any award winning shot, but shooting in black and white allows me to see the subject in its purest form. In photography, I’m constantly looking at light, shadow and composition before I hit that shutter button. I’m still learning to find my own ways of seeing the world through the lens.
WHAT IS THIS SITE FOR?
This site is different from my main page. For this site, I want it to be an experimental creative output, that’s not fully curated. This could range from urban interventions, architecture, art, design and photography.
